The School

Beginners to Advanced & Child to Adult
No auditions are required for admission to the Academy. The beginner is welcomed here and can feel at ease, since all lessons are individual, the teacher will be patient, understanding that each student is special, and will progress according to their abilities and dedication to fulfill assignments.

Intermediate and advanced students will be taught by instructors who through their own rigorous education and experience will guide them though the process of advanced repertoire and performance skills. The Academy is the school for those who wish to pursue the language of art and music, and who seek a higher level of expression through education and fresh ideas for playing, singing, and developing their art.

Lots of Ways to Study and Gain Experience: Classes, Lessons, Recitals, Ensembles
Our classes are mostly one-on-one instruction but we also have workshops and group classes at various times as well. Students are also encouraged to perform in ensembles and jam sessions through special workshops prepared by teachers who rehearse and train the young musicians for performances at recitals and other public venues. The diversity of our faculty means ensembles are available for many styles of music giving young students the opportunity to work with others at the same level.

Art Classes
Classes are available for ages 6 to adult in a variety of styles of painting and drawing to all levels of students from hobbyist to college level. Visit the Art page for information on art faculty and programs.

Music Theory Classes & Workshops
Music theory classes are offered for students who wish to move beyond the individual studio theory, as well as specialized theory in composition and song writing. Workshops are offered focusing on a variety of subjects. See the schedule on the Calendar page.

Academy Players and Competitions
Several Academy teachers are members of the Music Teachers National Association, an accrediting organization, and students who study with member teachers may participate in Student Day and competitions associated with the national, state and local chapters. The Academy is also a member of the Federation of Music Clubs, and our chapter is the ACADEMY PLAYERS. Students may participate in the club festivals on the local, state and national levels.

Music For Little Ones
Musikgarten and Kinder Music programs provide music classes for young children from newborn to four years of age in 15-week sessions, and special sessions during the summer. All classes include instruction in movement, singing and listening skills, as well as rhythm with percussion instruments, ear training, and music literacy. Visit the KinderMusic/Musikgarten page for more information.
